I just wanted to post a quick picture of this beautiful piece of wood that is all primed to be cut to bits in the next couple weeks as I get ready for this year's HGS moku hanga exchange in Japan. It has been sanded and treated with a few coats of gommalacca (shellac) and is a beauty in waiting!

Hi,
I'd be very interested in hearing more about how you got to Japan and found a sensei if possible.
Thanks.
I was in Japan teaching,... pretty much a way to stay while got a unique cultural experience. Getting involved with the print group that I did basically came down to good fortune. I happened to be in an amazing area for the arts and a coworker of mine helped put me in touch with a guy she new. Just so happened that he was the head of this long-standing group and decided to show me a couple things. A lot of broken English and Japanese between the two of us proved to be difficult, but by no means any match for hands on learning. Soon enough I was exchanging with prints with the group and now I'm entering in my 4th year being involved. It's a true honour!
